Kass Plateau Satara ( Valley of Flower of Maharashtra )

The Kass Plateau is situated in Western Ghats near Satara. This plateau is well known for its unique biosphere, high hill plateaus and grasslands. During monsoon season, especially in the month of August and start of september, the plateau comes to life, with picturesque view of various types flowers that carpet the floor of the plateau. As per the Forest Department's Board at Kass Plateau, there are more than 150 or more types of flowers, shrubs and grasses found here. The orchids bloom here for a period of 3-4 weeks during this season. Many of the flowers and plants that grow here are carnivorous in nature i.e. insect eaters!!

Towards the south of the Kas Plateau there is a wonderful lake, which is know as Kass Lake is just like a bowl carved out of the Sahyadri mountains. Further 30 Kms towards the south of Kass Lake are the backwaters of the Koyna Project. Apart from these there are number of other scenic places like caves, picnic spots, boating places, temples etc. which not only attract tourists from India, but also from other parts of the world.

This place is a hub of scenic beauty, wild life and holy places. To experience complete serenity and heaven on earth, one should visit this place at least once in lifetime

The place has huge green meadows, a large water body, surrounded by hills on three sides, for those who wish to enjoy in water there are clean fresh water streams, and a short trek will take you to a small waterfall hidden in forest. This virgin location is most suitable to relax, unwind and enjoy nature. For adventure activity – we have an inflatable two person kayak and two person raft which you can use in the calm water, We can also provide fishing rods in case you wish to try your hand at fishing. A hammock and a tent will be organized for you.

Recommended gear:

Shoes or sandals in good condition with rubber soles are ideal. In case of shoes you can wear plastic bags over the socks if you want to keep your feet dry. Raincoats are preferred over umbrellas. In case you wear glasses caps will help to keep away raindrops. Full trousers and full sleeves cotton T-shirts will protect you against insects and mosquitoes; carry some rubber bands which can stop any creepy crawlies getting under your trousers.

A set of dry clothes and napkin in a water proof bag will come in handy in case you wish to be dry but remember we may not get any room to change the clothes.

Carry 2 liters of drinking water per person, personal medicines and mosquito repellent.

We do not provide food nor will you get to buy anything, so carry fruits and dry snacks. Carry these items in a back pack or shoulder bag. Make sure the bag is not too heavy.

Food can be organized if planned a day in advance and if the menu is simple.

How to reach:
By Train: Plan to reach Virar by 8:00 am. Exit from south end of platform no. 1. This is in the west. We will pick you up in our Vehicle and we will proceed to the destination.

By Road: If traveling by your own vehicle. Drive up to Nalasopara phata on the highway and give us a call so we can escort you to the site.

Note:
The trek route will depend on rainfall in the region. We expect trekkers to be eco-friendly. Pollution in any form should be avoided. he Elephanta Caves (Marathi: घारापुरीची लेणी, Gharapurichya Lenee) are a network of sculpted caves located on Elephanta Island, or Gharapuri (literally "the city of caves") in Mumbai Harbour, 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the east of the city of Mumbai in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The island, located on an arm of the Arabian Sea, consists of two groups of caves—the first is a large group of five Hindu caves, the second, a smaller group of two Buddhistcaves. The Hindu caves contain rock cut stone sculptures, representing the Shaiva Hindu sect, dedicated to the god Shiva

The cave temples to Siva, on the island of Elephanta, in the Bombay harbour, contain some of the most magnificent sculptures in the Deccan. The dating of the caves seems to be controversial. They were probably finished some time between 450 and 750 AD. The complex is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Access from Mumbai is by boats leaving from the Gateway of India. There are three entrances to the main temple in the complex- from the north, east and west. The main gallery is divided by columns into equal rows and aisles. To the west, and outside this area, is a square sanctuary containing a monolithic Linga. The huge, high-relief works in the main cave, on both sides of the three entrances and on the south wall, are characteristic of the cult of Siva and considered to be among the most perfect expressions of Indian art of their time. The most well-known is the six metre high Trimurti, showing Siva in the three roles of creator, preserver and destroyer.

Observation positions at Pratapgarh Fort, Mahabaleshwar/India. Built in 1656 by Shivaji, elevation : 800m on an isolated hill with sheer drops all around. A battle was fought here between the Maratha forces of Shivaji and Afzal Khan commandin the forces of Sultan Adil Shah of Bijapur. Shivaji was outnumbered 25000 to 10000 but he defeated the Afzal Khan. Afzal Khan's body lies buried at the bottom of the hill and is marked by a monument built by Shivaji as a reminder/warning to his would be enemies that they too would suffer the same fate if they stood against him!

We spent the day at Elephanta Island some 8 miles out of Mumbai. The trip started here on one of the small boats which are moored to the monument's stairs.

The Gateway of India was built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay, prior to the Delhi Durbar, in December 1911. The foundation stone was laid on March 31, 1911, by the Governor of Bombay Sir George Sydenham Clarke, with George Wittet's final design sanctioned in August 1914. Between 1915 and 1919 work proceeded on reclamations at Apollo Bundar for the land on which the gateway and the new sea wall would be built. The foundations were completed in 1920, and construction was finished in 1924. The Gateway was opened on December 4, 1924, by the Viceroy, the Earl of Reading.

The last British troops to leave India, the First Battalion of the Somerset Light Infantry, passed through the Gateway in a ceremony on February 28, 1948.

Over one lakh Warkaris chanting ''Jai Hari Vitthal'' and ''Gyanba Tukaram'' started the 21-day annual Ashadhi Ekadashi pilgrimage to Pandharpur from Sant Tukaram Devasthan in Dehugaon as part of Tukaram Maharaj's Palkhi procession via Alandi to Vithoba Pilgrimage Pandarpur.

The local villagers drew rangolis in front of their houses to welcome the Palkhi, which has become an inseperable part of Maharashtra's culture.

The prestigious Palkhi poojan and aarti were performed by Villager as part of welcoming Lord Vithal devotees

A sea of Warkaris holding Patakas (Saffron flags) and Tulsi saplings converged in the temple premises amidst chants of ''Gyanba Tukaram''.

They were playing veenas, mridangas, dholkees, chipalyas and tashas. A group of Warkaris is called a Dindi. Dindis come from across the state, majority of them from Marathwada, to Dehu for the procession.

As the palkhi moved from Dehu, the atmosphere was filled with devotion. The pilgrims played phugdi.

The Maha Puja is performed by a devotee who enters the temple first and this time the honour went to Pandurang Bua.

"Jungle Lore" is a group of avid trekkers who have come together with
the common objective of saving our prized heritage and valuable
natural resources. Our trekking experience comes from various
expeditions to Alang -Kullang - Madangad, Harishchandragad ,Vasota
Fort & many treks to Karjat & Pune regions .We would like to invite
nature loving & like minded people like you on 31 January & 01
February 2009 for a  Bird Sanctuary & Sea fort trail to Karnala Bird
Sanctuary, Korlai - Nagaon, Murud Janjira & Kashid Beach. We are sure
that this experience would be a memorable one for both you and "Jungle
Lore".

Itenary

We will gather at 6.30 am on 31st January,2009 near Swami Narayan
Mandir, Dadar (E). After a travel stretch of approx. 2 hours, we will
arrive at Karnala Bird Sanctuary. At approx.2.30pm we would proceed
towards another sea-fort called Korlai. Having visited Fort Korlai, we
would have some relaxed moments on beautiful Korlai Beach.
We would start our journey towards Nagaon after experiencing an
awesome sun-set from Korlai Beach.At 8.00pm will reach Nagaon for
night stay. After dinner will having campfire at Nagoan beach.Next day
morning, after breakfast, at 8.00 am, we will proceed towards Murud
for visiting a mighty Sea fort Janjira . After lunch at Murud we will
start our journey for Mumbai .While coming back we will visit
beautiful Ganesh Temple at Nandgaon & Kashid beach.

Cost
Rs. 1650/- including travel by chartered bus (Dadar to Dadar),
Accommodation. Breakfast,   Lunch, Evening refreshments, Dinner & a

Arrive Sawai Madhopur at 10:30 am. Transfer to Ranthambhore Forest Resort. After Lunch, Jungle Safari to Ranthambore National Park and experience majestic wildlife. On returning back to resort, we shall have an informative slideshow on wild habitat of Ranthambhor. Campfire & overnight stay at the Ranthambhor forest resort.

Day 03 - 23/01/2009

Leave for early morning Jungle Safari. Return to resort for breakfast. Some free time for relaxation & shopping. After Lunch, again we shall leave for a jungle safari at around 2:00 pm. After returning to the resort we shall enjoy Rajasthani Folk Dance and cultural show performed by local artists. Overnight stay at the forest resort.

About SGNP

Sanjay Gandhi National Park also know as Borivali National Park encompasses an area of around 104 sq kms. The park is famous for rich flora and fauna. The park is located in the northern suburbs.

This park has approximately 500 types of flowering plants, 250 species of birds, 30 species of mammals, 125 species of butterfly. It is also famous for the flowering plant named as "Karvi" which blooms every 7 years. The park is also famous for the wild cat namely the leopard. Today the park has around approx 25 leopards.

Silonda is a restricted area of the forest. One needs to take a proper permission from the forest department before entering in it. It is a stretch of 3.5 kms (single way) for nature trail. During monsoon the road is muddy. One can trace the different color crabs & spiders in monsoon. During the trail one can see the Racket tailed Drongo, Red whiskered Bulbul, Barbet.. you can also hear the bird which sound like " will beat you..." and many more..You can also notice the Pagoda ants nest on the trees.

In Silonda area one can find different types of medicinal herbs, species of birds and insects.

We are glad to inform you that, Jungle Lore is organising a sea fort trail to Sagargad, Fort Janjira near Murud & fort Korlai.

About Jungle Lore and the Trek

"Jungle Lore " is a group of avid trekkers who have come together with the common objective of saving our prized heritage and valuable natural resources. Our trekking experience comes from various expeditions to Alang -Kullang - Madangad, Harishchandragad ,Vasota Fort & many treks to Karjat & Pune regions .We would like to invite nature loving & like minded people like you on 29^th & 30^th November 2008 for a Sea fort trail to Sagargad – Janjira - Koralai near Alibag. We are sure that this experience would be a memorable one for both you and "Jungle Lore "

We would be following the schedule as mentioned below..

Itinerary:

We will gather at 6.30 am on 29^th November near Swami Narayan Mandir Dadar (E).
After a travel stretch of around 2 ½ hours, we will arrive at Khandala village near the base of Sagargad. We will start the trek at 10.00 am & will reach Sagargad waterfall by 12.00 pm

After having our pack lunch & some rest at Sagargad Waterfall .We will climb down the fort @2.30 we would proceed towards another sea-fort called Korlai. Having visited Fort Korlai, we would have some relaxed moments on beautiful Korlai Beach. We would start our journey towards Nagaon after experiencing an awesome sun-set from Korlai Beach.@ 8.00 will reach Nagaon for night stay. After dinner will having campfire @ Nagoan beach

Next day morning, after breakfast, at 8.00 am, we will proceed towards Murud for visiting a mighty Sea fort Janjira . After lunch @ Murud we will start our journey for Mumbai While coming back we will visit beautiful Ganesh Temple @ Nandgaon & Kashid beach

गिरिविहंग ही एक संस्था नसून निसर्गाशी सुसंवाद साधणारी एक विचारधारा आहे. हिचा जन्म साधारणत: १९९५-१९९६ साली राजमुद्रा या नावाने झाला. प्रत्येक संस्था सुरवातीला एक छोटेसे रोपटे असते आणि या रोपट्याचे एका विशाल वटवृक्षामध्ये रूपांतर व्हावे असे प्रत्येकालाच वाटत असते. एक विचार जो मनात घर करून गेला की आपली संस्था ही नोंदणीकृत संस्था झाली पाहिजे. परंतु संस्थेच्या
नोंदणीच्या वेळेस म्हणजेच डिसेंबर २००२ साली कायदेशीर अडचणीमुळे राजमुद्रेचे रूपांतर गिरिविहंग असे झाले.

गिरिविहंगंच्या नावावर दोन यशस्वी मोहिमांची मोहोर आहे. त्यापैकी लोणवळा-भीमाशंकर एकदिवसीय पदभ्रमण मोहिम करणारी गिरिविहंग ट्रेकर्स हीएकमेव संस्था आहे. तसेच संस्थेने पन्हाळगड़-विशालगड़ एकदिवसीय मोहिम यशस्वीरित्या पूर्ण केलेली आहे.

ह्या संस्थेने अनेक परंपरा गेली १०-१२ वर्षे सातत्याने व प्रमाणिकपणे चालू ठेवल्या आहेत. त्यात काही गोष्टींचा आवर्जून उल्लेख करावसा वाटतो तो म्हणजे श्रावणमासी विविध मार्गाने भीमाशंकर पदभ्रमण आयोजित करणे, लहान मुलांसाठी निसर्ग साहस शिबिर आयोजित करणे तसेच नाणेघाट रेपलिंग आणि रायगड टकमक रेपलिंग व गड़ दर्शन आयोजित करणे.

यामध्ये रायगड टकमक रेपल्लिंग व गड़दर्शन हा संस्थेचा जणू मानबिंदुच. या कार्यक्रमाचे सूत्रसंचालन करण्यासाठी प्रत्येकजण धडपडत असतो. या कार्यक्रमाचे नेतुत्त्व घेणे ही एक अभिमानाची गोष्ट असते. तसेच रायगड रेपल्लिंग करने तेवढेच रोमंचाने भरलेले आव्हान असते. टकमक आपणाला नेहमीच आव्हान देत असतो. आणि आम्ही त्याच्या आव्हानाला नम्रपणे सामोरे जावून ते स्विकारतो.

About Ranthambore National Park-

Situated in Eastern Rajasthan, where the Aravali Hill ranges and the Vindhyan plateau meet, the Ranthambhore National Park was once the hunting preserve of the Maharajas of Jaipur. Ranthambore National park is famous for its tigers and is one of the best places in the country to see these majestic predators in the wild.

Wildlife -

The varied topography of the national park is home to animals like Tigers, Leopards, Striped Hyenas, Sambar deer, Chital, Nilgai, Langurs, Macaques, Jackals, Jungle cats, Sloth bears, Black bucks, Indian Wild Boar, Indian False Vampires, Indian Foxes, Indian Gerbilles, Mongoose, snub Nosed Marsh Crocodiles, Desert Monitor Lizards etc.

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 01 –

Evening Departure for Sawai Madhopur by Jaipur Superfast Express at 6:50 pm from Mumbai Central.

Day 02 –

Arrive Sawai Madhopur at 10:30 am. Transfer to Ranthambhor Forest Resort. Breakfast & relax at resort. After Lunch, Jungle Safari to Ranthambore National Park to experience majestic wildlife. Informative slideshow on wild habitat of Ranthambhor. Campfire & overnight stay at the Ranthambhor forest resort.

Day 03 –

Early morning Jungle Safari. Return to resort for breakfast. After Lunch, jungle safari at around 2:00 pm. Enjoy Rajasthani Folk Dance and cultural show. Overnight stay at the forest resort.

Day 04 –

Visit to mighty Ranthambhor Fort at 8:00 AM. Back to resort for breakfast & lunch. Free time for extra safari or relaxation / shopping. Departure for Mumbai at 8:00 PM.

Day 06 -

Arrive Mumbai with some wild memories.

History

Manali has a pre-historic legend behind its name. Vaivasvata, the seventh incarnation of Manu, the first creation according to Hindu mythology, found a tiny fish in his bathing water. The fish told him to look after it with devotion, for one day it would do him a great service. The seventh Manu cared for the fish until it grew so huge that he released it into the sea. Before departing, the fish warned Manu of an impending deluge when the entire world would be submerged and bade him to build a seaworthy ark. When the flood came, Matsya (fish), the first avatar of Lord Vishnu, towed Vaivasvata and the Seven Sages to safety. As the waters subsided, the seventh Manu's ark came to rest on a hillside and the place was named Manali after him.

Introduction

Manali is an important hill station of northern India and is the destination of thousands of tourists every year.Manali derived its name from Manavalaya meaning the abode of Manu or "Home of Manu" and here, the temples are treated as pilgrimages. Its cool atmosphere provides a perfect haven for the ones afflicted by the hot Indian summers. Manali is also famous for adventure sports like skiing, hiking, mountaineering, para gliding, rafting, trekking, kayaking, and mountain biking.

Location

Manali is situated in the central parts of Himachal Pradesh, Manali is 32 km from Kullu valley, 280 km north of the state capital Shimla and 108 km from Mandi. Manali is located at an altitude of 2050 meters above sea level and is spread along the banks of the river Beas.

Weather

In winters, the temperature can drop below freezing point when heavy woolens are required. Summer temperatures are mild and light woolens/cottons are recommended. In Manali, one can find high mountains shrouded by silent snows and deep boulder strewn gorges. There are thick forests, filled with cool breezes and bird song.

Places to see

Arjun Gufa

On the left bank of the river Beas, near Prini village, is the "Arjun Gufa" or the cave of Arjuna. It is believed that Arjuna practiced austerities to get Pashupata Ashtra or weapon from Lord Indra.

Hadimba Temple

Built in 1553, this four-story wooden Hadimba or Dhungiri temple is famous for its exquisitely caved doorway. It is located in the middle of a forest called the Dhungiri Van Vihar.

Jagatsuhk

About 6 kms. from Manali is the famous Shiva Temple in "shikara" style. It houses temples dedicated to Lord Shiva and Sandhya Gayatri.

Kothi

This is a quiet but picturesque spot, at the foot of the Rohtang pass, 12 kms. away from Manali town. It offers a magnificent view of the snow-capped peaks and glaciers.

Manu Temple

Manali is named after the sage Manu who was the creator of human race on the earth and it is believed that he meditated here. This is supposed to be the only temple of Manu in India.

Monasteries

Manali is known for its shiny gompas or Buddhist monasteries. It is maintained by donations from the local community and by sale of hand-woven carpets in the temple workshop.

Rahala waterfalls

About 16 km from Manali at the start of the climb to the Rohtang Pass, are the beautiful Rahalla Falls at an altitude of 2,501 m.

Rohtang Pass

(3979 m)Rohtang Pass is the highest point on the Manali-Keylong road. It provides a wide panoramic view of mountains rising far above clouds, which is truly a breath taking sight.

Solang Valley

Solang valley offers the view of glaciers and snow capped mountains and peaks. It has fine ski slopes. The Mountaineering Institute has installed a ski lift for training purpose. The 12-km hike up the western banks of the Beas to the Solang Valley is noteworthy.

Vashist Hot Water Springs and Temple

(3 kms)Across the Beas river is Vashist, a small village with natural sulphur springs. Modern bathhouses, with Turkish-style showers, have the hot water piped into them for the convenience of the visitors who come here to benefit from the medicinal properties. There is a pyramidal stone temple dedicated to Vashist Muni and another Temple of Lord Ram.

BHIMA SHANKAR Rainy Trek around Mumbai - Pune

Bhimashankar is located on the lateral edge of a broad hilltop in the main Sahyadri mountains range at a height of about 3500 feet above sea level in Pune district, Maharashtra, India. Bhimashankar, a paradise destination for pilgrims, trekkers, nature lovers, jungle lovers and bird spectator due to Jyotirlingam (pilgrim centre) and Wildlife sanctuary. It is also a very good hill station. Bhimashankar is definitely one of God's choicest creations.

How to reach Bhimashankar from Mumbai : The route is - Mumbai - Kalyan - Murbad - Junnar - Bhimashankar via Malshej Ghat. The distance is about 260 kms.

From Chembur, Thane and Kalyan bus terminus, State Transport (ST) Buses are available for Bhimashankar and are running with good frequency.

The other route is trekkers favourite one. From Mumbai, travel by a train to Karjat. Take a bus from Karjat to village Khandas (14 kms), Khandas is at the base of Bhimashankar. From Khandas, one has to cross a stream nearby. Here onwards two ways are available for Bhimashankar, one via Shidighat, while other via Ganesh Ghat. The distance is of about 11 kms. These routes are wonderful, difficult but adventurous to reach the top. (For trekkers only)

Event Description:
We have received an overwhelming response to our monsoon treks
this season. Since we had limitations in accommodating more than 27
people for Dabhosa Waterfall trail , and given the keen interest shown by so many people, we are pleased to announce another Trek to Fort Sagargad on 12th July 2009 ( Sunday ).

As monsoon sets in, young shoots begin to appear and brightly colored flowers adorn the green carpet. The freshwater crabs and frogs awaken from their long, deep slumber and scramble around; insects hop and buss around from one branch to another; birds chirp loudly and dance about to attract mates; all this is the celebration of the monsoon.

If the, the cloudy days, the lush green hills, the gushing streams, the cascading waterfalls, the misty mountain tops, entice and inspire you we have a perfect respite for you. Away from the maddening city crowds and the concrete jungle and yet not too far away, Jungle Lore welcomes you to for a one day trek to Fort Sagargad to get you back in time and one with nature, and for some to see your tie-clad colleagues pushed to the edge!

About the Fort

Sagargad is situated near Alibag, on Mumbai-Alibag road & at a distance of 8 km before Alibag. There are two routes that lead to the top of the fort. One is from a village named Khandala and the other is from Vaghole. Both these villages lie on the bus-route to Alibag, from Mumbai. The route to Sagargad is a scenic one with lush green vegetation complimented by a relatively thick jungle. We would be taking the route from Khandala to reach to the top.

This photo was taken at Ajanta Caves, which is recognised by UNESCO and included it in its World Heritage List in the year 1983. The famous Ajanta caves are situated about 100 kms away from Aurangabad district in the state of Maharashtra in India. The caves are cut from the volcanic rocks of the Deccan plateau in the forest ravines of the Sahyadri Hills and are set in beautiful sylvan surroundings. They were discovered accidentally by a British Captain, John Smith in 1819, while on a hunting expedition. These caves are dedicated to Lord buddha. The followers and students of buddhism treated these caves as mosoon retreats where they could come and study about the religion. These caves were carved out from the 2nd Century BC to the 6th Century AD. The caves can be basically divided into 2 categories - Chaitya Grihas and Viharas. Chaitya Griha as they were called is basically a prayer hall. Viharas are basically a monastry where the monks used to reside.

This photograph is one of the numerous paintings on the walls of the caves. One tends to wonder how in those era (2nd BC - 6th AD) people could paint with such rich colors inside dark caves with such perfection. Moreover the paintings have stood the test of time and are still there. Hats off to those guys......

The caves are located just outside the village of Ajinṭhā in Aurangabad District in the Indian state of Maharashtra (N. lat. 20 deg. 30' by E. long. 75 deg. 40'). Since 1983, the Ajanta Caves have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The vaishnavite Varadaraja perumal temple stands within a huge walled temple complex in the far southeast of town of Kancheepuram, guarded by high gates topped with gopurams. The temple has two high towers, one in the east (which is much larger than the other) and the other in the west.

Also known as Devarajaswamy temple, it is absolutely massive and impressive edifice. The shrine of Devarajaswamy is located on an elephant-shaped rock called Hastagiri. The inner sanctum has splendid lingams, carvings and well-preserved paintings.

There is an elaborate sixteenth-century pillared hall close to the western entrance gate. The 1000 pillared hall has interesting and highly detailed sculptures. The outer columns of pillars of this mandapa are sculpted as lions, and warriors rearing horses, to celebrate the military dynamism of the Vijayanagaras, who believed their competence was inspired by the influence of Shakti.

Nature walk in heart of Tungareshwar woods

Tungareshwar is at an altitude of about 2177 feets, one of the highest mountain plateaus in Vasai. It is thickly wooded and offers many opportunities to trekkers, mountaineers and nature lovers. The best time to visit Tungareshwar is during the rains or the winter season.It is a holy destination for the devotees of Lord Shankar.
Tungareshwar is near Vasai, an hour's drive from Mumbai. Vasai Road Railway Station is the nearby access point.

The temple of Shiva is on the slope of hill which is known as Tungareshwar hill. Nearby flows Tungareshwar river. Behind the temple is the reservoir `Ramkund'.

A number of medicinal plants and herbs are there on the way. In addition to the ancient temple, there is a river, beautiful streams and waterfalls.

Dense and Lush green forest is all round ,chirping of birds and insects is heard all time as one follows the way in woods.Inspite of being located very near to Mumbai, this place still holds its peace and greenery.

Reach – Car – W.E. Highway to Dahisar Check Naka, NH8 to Kaman junction. Approx. 45 Min. from North Mumbai.
Rail & Bus– Naigoan Station (Western Railway) – from Naigoan East outside the railway station share Autos are available, per head they charge around Rs.20/- It only takes 20min. to reach Kaman Junction.
Vasai Station – S.T. Buses are available to reach Kaman Junction.

Trek Cum Picnic starts right from the Kaman Junction. Route towards the waterfall passes through dense forest, streams and small waterfalls at both the sides. It takes minimum 1 hour to reach the main waterfall. One can divide this spots in two parts (a) Main waterfall has good height. Few groups also arranges Valley crossing and Rappelling (B) there is one spot on the way to main waterfall where most of the visitor enjoys. Swimmers jumps from the top in the water, as it is very deep.

Caution :- Swimmer should take care while diving/jumping in pond below waterfall , it had been proved fatal to few people in recent past

The Swaminarayan Akshardham temple on the banks of the River Yamuna in Delhi was inaugurated by President APJ Abdul Kalam on November 6, 2005.

The sprawling Rs.200-crore pink sandstone cultural complex spread over 100 acres showcases the grandeur of Indian history, art, culture and values. Designed by architect Virendra Sompura and conceptualised by Pramukh Swami Maharaj, it took over 7,000 master craftsmen and thousands of volunteers from all over the world almost five years to complete this modern day marvel.

The main monument, depicting ancient Indian "vastu shastra" and architecture, is a masterpiece in pink sandstone and white marble that is 141 feet high, 316 feet wide and 370 feet long with 234 ornate pillars, over 20,000 sculptures and statues of deities, eleven 72-foot-high huge domes (mandapams) and decorative arches.

The monument stands on the shoulders of 148 huge elephants which are encircled by a double-storied colonnade that depicts tales from the epics.

The complex has exhibition halls, an Imax theatre and a musical fountain, surrounded by a garden, and is much more than a mere place of pilgrimage.

The temple complex is expected to become one of the major tourist attractions of Delhi. It will be thrown open to the public from November 8, from 12 noon to 6 p.m. The timings will be extended from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from November 15.

For visitors, entry to the complex is free. However, for exhibition halls and theatres an entry fee of Rs.125 is to be paid and for children and senior citizens the charges are Rs.75.

Marine Drive running into Chowpatti Seaface
and Walkeshwar Marg, sweeps along the shore
of the Arabian Sea from Nariman Point past
Chowpatti Beach to the foot of Malabar Hill.
Lined with flaking Art Deco apartments and a
series of gymkhanas where grand weddings are
often held, this is one of Mumbai's most popular
promenades and sunset-watching spots. The
lights that twinkle along the promenade at night
give it its nickname, 'the Queen's Necklace'.
Chowpatti Beach, scene of the riotous climax of
the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, remains a favorite
evening spot for courting couples, families, polit-
ical rallies and anyone out to enjoy what passes
for fresh air. Eating bhelpuri (crisp fried thin
rounds of dough mixed with puffed rice, fried
lentils, lemon juice, chopped onions, herbs and
chutney) at the collection of stalls on the edge of
the beach at night is an essential part of the
Mumbai experience, as is getting a vigorous
head rub from a malish-wallah (head masseur).
Sunbathing or swimming at this beach is
absolutely not recommended.

SANJAY GANDHI NATIONAL PARK - Borivali

This 104 sq km protected area of forested hills, on
the city's northern fringe, has some interesting
flora, birdlife and butterflies, a small population
of wild leopards and a fenced area with captive
tigers, including two white tigers. It's a great
asset to have within the city limits - the only
national park in India with a city postcode - but
it's under serious threat from urban encroach-
ment, and the public areas close to the
entrance are littered and unkempt. Just inside
the main northern entrance is an information
centre with a small exhibition on the park's
wildlife. The best time to see birds is October to
April and butterflies August to November. For
many visitors (mostly Indian families) the main
attraction is the lion and tiger safari. These
depart from the tiger orientation centre (a free
display explaining the demise of the tiger),
about 1km in from the main entrance. Safari
buses leave roughly every 20 minutes from 9am
to 12.40pm and 2pm to 5.20pm daily except
Monday. Another major attraction in the park
are the 109 Kanheri Caves

Hirakot ------- (Thane Region)--- Currently use as Thasidar office/ Police station ....
build by portuguese .... Portuguese give it name as "Diamond Fort".... Very Few monuments left there (searching of the same will require permission and later on lots of hard work...)
One of the best Structure in the History if forts.

Naglakot ------ (Ghodbundar road) ---- Only 2-3 sided walls maek a part of remains here.... the total fort is bad situation due to the local reti business .... The fort is at a peculiar location and has a nice view too.

Gaymukh Gadi ------ (Ghodbundar road) ----- One single wall makes the fort survive..... all the fort walls are damaged the fort is situated at Thane Ghodbundar road ....In Bad Very Condition.

Godbunder Fort-------- (Ghodbundar road) ----- fort is a in a very good state comparing to others, Local people are working at the best to save the same, a nearby school organises various events so that the place is vocal and know to everybody has a historic place but other part of local people have starting constructing encroachments near or in fort region.... Local school members try their best to protect these,also they r trying to conserve it ....

Firangkot (Ghodbundar road) ----- Only 2-3 wall remains here.... We already contact with local people for new project on fort real history.... fort location is too nice

Kharbavkot (Bhivandi Region) ------ Only 1 Wall (Buruj) remaining as fort .... close to the local hospital.... People call it as fort remains.

Vasai Killa (Bassein Fort) (Vasai) -------- Best Best (Kille Vasai Mohim) This is the headquarters of Kille Vasai Mohim first 53 forts to be qonquered.

Vajragad (Vasai) ------- Fort has history back to nearly 800 - 1000 yrs ..... Local people have constructed Datta Temple on it (Private Property) .... monuments are in bad conditions (the wall is totally demolished)

Arnala Killa (Virar) ---- Kille Vasai Mohim started work at fort, drawing maps, conservation activity, history writtings etc. work on monthly basis (Kille Vasai Mohim)

Jivadhangad (Virar) ---- Only 1 Wall remain (Due construction of Jivadhani Temple all fort monuments damage in very great extent)Fort has history back to nearly 800 - 1000 yrs
Location Best One. Please keep this information to you itself. If distributed the alone monument can face consequences of the same.

Dathivare Killa (Saphale) ----- No monument left (Not a single stone) Local people have constructed Light on the same monument.
